It hasn’t even been a year since fans were up in arms over Dr. Marten’s and its use of dead celebrities in a footwear ad campaign, but it looks like we’re going to catch another glimpse of some ad exec’s “great idea”.

Converse is next in line to take a stab at reaping the bad-press-is-good-press wave that I’m sure will come with their new sneaker/dead musician campaign. For they too are planning on using Gen-X posterboy, Kurt Cobain to hock their footwear.

Hey Converse! If you haven’t written your public apology yet, you can always refer to Dr. Marten’s as a guide.

Ladies and gentlemen, the next attempt to milk the Cobain cow…

The Kurt Cobain signature series Converse All-Star Shoe. Complete with wear and fray in addition to some scribbles of notes, pictures and lyrics from Cobain’s personal journals on them. This shoe will be launched for the 100 year anniversary of the company.

Converse, Kurt Cobain sneaker

Converse released news of the sneaker to the fan website nirvanaclub.com stating.

To honour Cobain, in May, Converse will debut their Kurt Cobain collection of shoes featuring artwork and scribbles borrowed from Cobain’s personal notebooks. It will mark a central part of the yearlong 100th Anniversary ‘Welcome to the Converse Century’ celebration

This shoe was approved by Kurt’s widow Courtney Love. In addition, other artists like Joy Division, Joan Jett, Hunter S Thompson, and Sid Vicious are rumored to be a part of the Converse 100 year anniversary sneaker series as well.

So all this basically tells us that Courtney Love is flat outta money and ideas. Right?
