JOHN MAYER surprised a mostly unsuspecting crowd at Mercury Lounge on Saturday night with a completely unannounced secret show. He took the stage just around 1:30am to a few stragglers from the show earlier that night and a few close friends.
He said that he’d planned to try out some new songs, but instead opted to play “the songs you want to hear.” The 1 hour set was comprised predominantly of covers from artists as varied as Thom Yorke, Alicia Keys, and The Police. He also added in a few of his own songs and tried out a new song written earlier that day.
